dream weeks before 9/11. tonight, he shares his vision for rebuilding and tells us how on the day of the attacks, his wife saved his life. first from fox tonight, mahmoud ahmadinejad. mahmoud ahmadinejad has a history of making waves at the united nations and today at the general assembly, he put on quite a show. saying many of said america was actually behind the attacks of 9/11, that we attacked our own people. and that it was an attempt to assure israel survives. upon hearing that, the american delegation walked right out of there. the british, too. president obama spoke at today's meeting at the general assembly first. he warned iran there will be consequences if it keeps defying the united nations with its nuclear program. but he also said there is still a chance for a peaceful end to the stand-off. >> the door remains open to diplomacy should iran choose to walk through it. but the iranian government must demonstrate a clear and credible commitment and confirm to the world the peaceful intent of its nuclear program. >> well, a few hours later, we didn't get that. instead,

on this thursday at 5:00. thanks for joining us. i'm kristen sze. >> i'm eric thomas. in the news this morning bulldozers will fan out through the san bruno neighborhood devastated by a natural gas explosion and fire. officials say it's time to begin removing the demolished homes. jenelle wang is live in san bruno with more on the story. >> cleanup crews will start coming in at 8:00 this morning to clean out all the debris at this disaster site. they're expected to be here the next four to six weeks. the first job to remove close to two dozen charred cars so they can get the heavy machinery in. then remove debris from the hot zones first. 34 homes to be cleared but could be more later. the cost is about 30 to $40,000 for each job site. for the victims that lost everything, still a lot of questions as the bills pile up. >> as far as insurance. >> what we all went through -- i don't know when that healing process starts to begin. we're still numb. >> as cleanup continues, water trucks will continue to water down the ash to reduce any toxic levels. the san jose county health department has brough

's deputy political director joining us from washington. so it's called the pledge to america, mark. what's in it? >> well, savannah, there are many components, but among the provisions that they are going to be laying out today, one would be make all the bush tax cuts permanent. another priority for them would hold weekly votes on spending cuts. and then finally, to repeal and replace health care. of course, many of these ideas aren't necessarily new. we've been hearing from republicans for a very long time their desire to repeal and replace health care along with extending the bush tax cuts. but this is a response to democratic charges of where is the beef? what would republicans do if they take back control of congress? and this 21-page document essentially does that. it lays out their ideas, what they would like to accomplish, and their priorities for the next congress. >> all right. mark murray in our washington newsroom. you know, savannah, the interesting thing was the reaction among folks at national review, for instance, or representing the pragmatic ring of the republican party
for joining us. jenna: "america live" starts right 2340u. -- right now. megyn: this is a fox news alert, we have brand new developments with this unveiling of the new republican agenda called the pledge to america, that's where we begin this hour of "america live", i'm megyn kelly. while this pledge is only two hours old, moments ago vice president biden launched a scathing attack accusing the gop of wanting to gut social security and take away health care benefits. using terms like malarkey and myths to talk about the gop's description of the health care overhaul and saying his mother would roll over in her grave if she thought her son was in any way part of reducing health care coverage to seniors, another thing he says is a myth proposed by the gop. what the republicans are vowing to do as part of this pledge, in part, is to permanently stop what they call job killing tax hikes. they also do want to repeal or scale back health care reform, and they say replace it with other reforms. also, they want to cut federal spending. >> our government has failed us. from the billion dollars bailout
